They come in all alignments; good, neutral and evil. Their thieves are the stealthy ninjas or uncanny beggars of the streets. Their priests are highly disciplined whether they be the famed monks of Shaolin or the arcane priests of Shinto. Their warriors are nimble, and hand to hand styles are unmatched. The mighty samurai has honor while the ronin wanders the roads. Perhaps you'll encounter the sword master with his precious weapon walking the desolate paths of Thera. And magic? Their magic is unequaled for the wu jen can conjure a chain of lightning as fast as the speed of light. The taoist mages' arcane ablities wreak havoc on even the toughest mobs.
The other Elder of Fate is Tak, the Jade Emperor. He exists on his chosen Plane, but often manifests himself to his followers on Thera. He is of good spirit and full of jovial laughter. He is honest, just, and righteous. He is judge, jury and executioner in areas where there is no law but that of the sword. He is the dabbler of the sciences and the concocter of sorcery.
Due to the division within the Tribe itself, Clans were formed to accommodate this very division. Four Clan Leaders lead the different Clans and they are known as the Heavenly Mortals. These leaders are always a tightly-knit grouping in the Savants myth. It is a harmonious inter-relationship.
The mighty Savant Warriors, better known as the Guards of Destiny, follow the Father of Battle. He is the General on the battlefield who leads from the front. He is concerned with war as a way of life. He is a strict and ethical leader, who brooks no trickery and deceit. Triumph must be obtained through valor and bravery. He abhors cowardice; he never backs away from a fight, no matter what the odds. His followers are charged to defend what they believe and that they should disparage no foe and respect all, for valor blazes in all, regardless of age, gender, or race.
The arcane Savant Mages follow the Master of Sorcery. He is a vibrant and vivacious leader with a will to accomplish things. He is willing to try oddmethods to accomplish his goals when tried and true ones are just not working. His followers are given the following charge upon aspiring to the tribe. "Love magic for itself, not just as a weapon to reshape Thera to your will. Play with magic and learn how best to wield it, but not when the price is paid by others. Conduct yourself humbly, not proudly. Seek always to learn new magic and to create new magic." The followers of the Master of Sorcery are collectively known as the Keepers of Fate.
The highly disciplined Savant Priests follow the Lady of Mercy. She is quiet, kind and good-spirited. However, she is not totally nonviolent. When facing cruelties and atrocities, her rage can boil up, and then she is a figure of frighteningly righteous wrath. She charges her followers to help all who hurt, no matter who they are, and that the truly holy take on the suffering of others. And for those who have truly suffered in sacrifice, she will be there to support them. Her followers are called the Hands of Mercy.
The Prince of Shadows leads the Savant Thieves in trickery and mischief. He has an insatiable hunger to create chaos. He has the skills of a great con man and will use mischievous trickery to achieve his own ends. He is tolerated by the other Leaders only because he has sided with them in epic battles of the past. He allows his followers to almost reign freely and only intervenes when the need for his presence is required. His only instruction for his followers is that they aid all fellow Savants and those outside the Tribe who share their belief of mischievous conduct. His followers call themselves the Omens of Fate.
The tribe itself is in balance such with the yin and yang. Thus there will be evil and good and neutral members. We encourage the evil to do random acts of annoyance and the good to be helpful to all. The cohesiveness of the tribe is based on our philosophy, not alignment, so we are in harmony with all.
